Cessna's Chihuahua plant sent its first finished carbon fiber fuselage to the firm's Independence, Kansas plant, where it will go through final assembly to be put in the market at month's end.
According to Cessna Chihuahua plant manager Arturo Avila Cisneros, the company's local plants have already finished six carbon fiber fuselages, but are still waiting for feedback from corporate hearquarters to make an official announcement.
The fuselage was shipped at the end of December, and according to Avila, Cessna will be in a position to make one carbon fiber fuselage per week in its Chihuahua plants.
The new fuselages made in Chihuahua are completely assembled and ready to be equipped with avionics.
Avila said 10 technicians will be sent soon to Kansas for training in new processes.
