American aircraft maker Hawker Beechcraft began construction on its second plant in Chihuahua City under a $108 million initiative, following a week that saw Honeywell Aerospace, Kaman Aerospace and Arnprior Aerospace announcing new investments or expansions in the Mexican northern city.
Company officials led a groundbreaking ceremony April 15 at Chihuahua's Parque Industrial Sur. Hawker Beechcraft plans to employ about 600 workers in its new 188,000 square-foot plant, where it will make structural assemblies and subassemblies for commercial aircraft.
Hawker Beechcraft began operations in Chihuahua on October 2007. |
