Zodiac Aerospace confirmed it will invest $12 million in Chihuahua with the construction of a new plant and expansion of its existing Air Cruisers plant, increasing its presence to five divisions in the State.
The French company's investment is expected to add more than 300 jobs in a first stage. Zodiac currently employs over 400 workers in Chihuahua.
Company officials announced they will open a Weber plant on October 27 at Chihuahua City's Supra Industrial Park.
With the new plant, Zodiac will have five divisions in Chihuahua: Air Cruisers, ICORE, IDD, Amfuel and Weber.
Weber's customers include Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Embraer, EADS, Dassault, Gulfstream, Eurocopter, Sikorsky and Bell Helicopter.
State Governor José Reyes Baeza met with Zodiac Chairman Olivier Zarrouati; global operations director Thierry Fevrier; and the CEO of the interconnection systems division, Patrice Collin, to complete the agreement in Paris.
Another French company, Manoir Industries, which like Zodiac already has operations in Chihuahua, announced it will open a new $10 million plant in November in Chihuahua City.
Manoir's new plant will ship assembly-ready braking system sets to its customer in the United States, Messier Bugatti, a Groupe Safran company.
