Copachisa was founded 45 years ago and has been a prime developer of industrial facilities in Mexico, with substantial activity in commercial construction, hotels and housing.
As a less than 500-employee company, Copachisa has developed a unique work environment that relies in open personal relantionships. Employees average 10 years of work with the company.
Company administrators are known for their readiness in helping out employees with housing credits and have a $250,000 contingency fund ready for workers.
Copachisa currently has 260 employees and has had an average of 90 employees for the last seven years.
Part of Copachisa’s success in maintaning a stable payroll comes from a deft costs control system via outsourcing. The company runs $2 to $45 million contracts and uses up to 2,000 eventual workers per project.
“We are one of the few companies who don’t fire people in hard times”, said Roberto Valdés, Copachisa’s president, according to Expansión.
The company has a workplace accident rate of 1.01 –number of accidents per working hour-, less than the U.S. permitted rate of 4.2 to 8.4 for companies of the same size.
