About ITCJ
Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Juárez (ITCJ) has a rich history of contribution to the industrial development of our border city since 1935, when it was founded as a technical school. It offered its first engineering degree in 1967.
In the seventies ITCJ engineers created a speaking computer called TACO, for Tecnología Automatizada y Computarizada.
According to ITCJ, every manufacturing plant in Ciudad Juárez has at least one ITCJ graduate in its payroll.

Highlights in the history of ITCJ
- 1935. The first technological education in Juarez was offered by the Industrial Technical School No. 5, predecesor of ITCJ.
- 1964. Instituto Tecnológico Regional No. 11 is founded.
- 1966. The Institute offers its first professional degree, Auditor and Public Accountant.
- 1967. The Institute starts an industrial engineering degree, with specializations in Mechanic, Electric, Electronic and Production engineering.
- At the beginning of the 70s the Institute creates the School-Business office to connect students with local companies.
- 1975. ITCJ implements its first graduate studies program.
- In the mid 70s, engineers from the Graduate Center at ITCJ develop TACO, a speaking computer.
- During its expansion period, ITCJ created an Open Education System at Nuevo Casas Grandes and Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua.
