As part of the festivities to mark the city's 300 anniversary, Chihuahuans are getting ready for the fourth Festival Country, confirming Chihuahua City as the cowboy capital of Mexico.
This year, a star-studed Festival Country will feature riders from 17 countries, including New Zealand, Australia, Italy, France and Portugal, who will compete in a World Rodeo Championship on August 29-30 in Chihuahua's Estadio Monumental.
And to celebrate the third century of the city's foundation, a "Stampede 300" will be held in downtown streets with a like number of young bulls.
A cavalcade will then lead to El Palomar park, where adults and children will be able to interact with the animals, ride horses and listen to music.
In a festival highlight, women from Chihuahua and other Mexican states as well as from foreign countries will compete in an International Barrel Racing Championship, and two of Mexico's best country music groups, Caballo Dorado and Ocho Segundos, will delight the audience with their music.
Special guests this year are the children from Centro de Rehabilitación Infantil Teletón (CRIT), a children rehabilitation center, who will take part in a Children's Rodeo.
