People from 66 countries living in Ciudad Juarez gathered December 13 in the Festival of Nations to share traditions and experiences in what has become an annual winter rite during the last ten years.
According to Mexico's Immigration Institute (Inami), more than 20,000 foreigners currently live in Chihuahua State, 60 percent of them in the border city of Juarez alone.
Conviviality and intermingling marked the day-long event attended by hundreds of Juarenses.
Representatives from the international community in Juarez set up exhibits of distinctive art, artifacts and national cuisines.
Most foreigners living in Chihuahua have come as company employees, students, teachers and tourists or following a migration route.
Nationals from Brasil, Japan, France, United States, Canada, Morroco, Ecuador, Egypt, Russia, Lebanon, Nigeria, Colombia, Spain, India, Rumania, China, Argentina, Turkey, Poland, England, Hungary, Guatemala, Syria, Germany, Italy and other countries currently live in the city.
Many of them have become Mexican citizens after years of living here or getting married and forming families.
Ciudad Juarez is a Mexican immigration melt-pot with an increasing international factor.
