As part of the festivities to mark 300th Anniversary of Chihuahua City, local officials announced the programing of the First International Chihuahua City Film Festival, to be held next August 20-23.
The program will feature short films, conferences, workshops, national and international premieres and two massive outdoor movie showings.
Encouraging new talents is one of the reasons behind the International Chihuahua City Film Festival.
With this in mind, a Short Film Competition was called for last February and is expected to culminate with the showing of some of the 60 best entries from more than 200 competitors from around the world.
Animation, documental and fiction are the main competing categories. A "Tricentennial" prize will be awarded to the best Chihuahuan short film.
One the main attractions will be a series of conferences by film experts Marina Stavenhagen, Raúl Padilla, María Rojo, Luis Estrada and others, as well as an acting workshop where more than 120 aspiring actors will have an opportunity to approach filmmaking.
Additionally, organizers will be offering a free children's film workshop to develop a liking for filmmaking among kids.
