Chihuahua's Advanced Materials Research Center (CIMAV) signed an agreement with 14 Mexican technology universities to train engineers and technicians on alternative energy generation, including solar, wind and biomass energy.
Under the new agreement, CIMAV will offer a two-year master's degree program on renewable energy including the fields of photothermal solar energy, photovoltaics, energy efficiency and biomss.
Technological University of Chihuahua (UTCH) has already launched a solar energy program.
CIMAV is a high-technology research center working on materials chemistry (minerals, nanostructured catalytic materials, polymer-based materials, computer simulation), materials physics (functional materials, risk analysis, wear, coating), energy and environment (pollution, environmental remediation), and nanotechnology.
The signing ceremony was held at the UTCH campus.
Participating universities are located at Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; Tijuana, Baja California; Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, Jalisco; San Pablo Huixtepec, Oaxaca; Ixmiquilpan, Hidalgo; Tulancingo, Hidalgo; Tula de Allende, Hidalgo; San Juan del Rio, Queretaro; Puebla, Puebla; Queretaro, Queretaro; Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas; and Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche.
