Chihuahua City is the most digital city of Mexico, together with Mérida, and just the second of Latin America, according to a study by Motorola and Convergencia Research of 150 cities.
Only Sao Paulo, Brazil, was considered to be making the most use of IT than Chihuahua in the subcontinent.
The study analized infrastructure, services, networking and commitment to reduce the digital divide in each of the participant municipalities, as well as use of information and communication technologies by citizens, companies and government agencies.
A total of 150 cities of 15 countries took part in the study. Mexico and Chile were the two countries with the most cities in the top-25 ranking, with 7 and 6 each, respectively.
This year, Chihuahua City became the first Mexican city with total wireless Internet coverage, widely beating similar projects in Monterrey and Mexico City.
The recognition comes a few days after the Ibero American Digital Cities Network ranked Chihuahua City as the third most digital city of Ibero America (the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries of Latin America and Europe) in the Metro Cities category.
